Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra gears up for season opener

The Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra is gearing up for its season opening concert, which will take place on October 17th. The prchestra told us more:

Join us on October 17 for the SMSO Opening Concert at the Howard Performing Arts Center, for an evening of music exploring and celebrating the strength and resilience of women. Under the direction of the finalist musical director Matthew Aubin, the program begins with a series of extracts from Bizet Carmen, one of the oldest and most remarkable masterpieces depicting the fearless courage and rebellion of one of music’s most daring heroines. Violist Mitsuru Kubo performs Jeremy Crosmer’s viola concerto Masks: the story of a heroine. Crosmer wrote the Five Movements Concerto “to bring attention to the different ways in which women shine in society”. Ending with Tchaikovsky’s heroic Fourth Symphony, this concert is sure to give women throughout history the limelight they deserve.
