Musical opens soon at Civic Theater

VAN WERT – Motherhood, the Musical opens at the Van Wert Civic Theater on September 23 for two weeks. VWCT is back with “Live Theater Better Than Ever”. This fun show with a book, music and lyrics by Sue Fabisch, and arrangements by Johnny Rodgers, walks through everything motherhood – the good, the bad, the funny and the touching. It is an evening of pure entertainment. In fact, the whole season this year is fun. The theme for this season is “We’re Still Standing,” and VWCT has persevered in bringing the shows back to its intimate 170-seat theater on South Race Street in Van Wert, Ohio.

Director / choreographer Jerry Zimmerman and musical director Dee Fisher have assembled an exceptional cast. This production is a collaboration with Amil Tellers Encore Theater which will have a broadcast of six shows after the show closes at VWCT. Not only is the collaboration innovative, but so is the casting. Two of the roles are shared by actresses. Each performance will be a unique show.

Debbie Briggs plays mom-to-be, Amy; and Stacy Rife plays Barb, an overworked, underpaid and stressed mother of five. The role of Brooke, a lawyer who works too much and barely sees her children, is shared by two actresses – Mary Ann Falk and Laura Warnement. Tina, a single mother struggling to balance work, family and divorce, is played by Kristin Lee and Nancy Williams-Shuffle. In addition to the four main characters, a fifth girl adorns the scene. The audience will need to show up to see who sings this role each night.

Maternity, the musical takes place on October 23, 24, 25, 26 *, 30 and 1, 2, 3 * with curtains at 8 p.m. Thursday to Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. All tickets are $ 16 and are on sale now. Visit vwct.org to order online or call 419-238-9689. Ticket office hours may vary. If no one answers the phone, please leave a message indicating the party you would like to attend, the number of reservations needed, your name and a phone number. A volunteer will call you back to verify and complete the reservation. All tickets must be paid for at the time of booking.

To get a 15% discount on tickets, consider purchasing a Flex Pass. For $ 55, the buyer gets four tickets to use in any way for any show. Flex passes are only on sale until October 3. Patron subscriptions are also available. Starting at $ 50, a Boss level membership offers recognition and box office access all season long right now.
