CHRIS BUESCHER, #17 Fastenal Ford Mustang – finished 6th
“I’m proud of everyone’s efforts throughout this week. We still had a lot of speed with the truck. We’re just looking for a little more. It’s a good thing to run up front and be that close and try to find a bit more speed. It’s tight here. This is a good thing. I’m proud of everyone. We will stay after and we will be ready for the next one.
AUSTIN CINDRIC, No. 2 Discount Tire Ford Mustang – Finished 7th
“I still love this race track. I wish we were a little better. It felt like we had a really good day and were able to work our way through the peloton after staying at the gap for stage points. I would have liked to get this stage win. I feel like I probably made a mistake on my own on this first stage to get this win, so this one- That’s on me. Otherwise it was a really solid weekend for the team. I’m happy with three top 10 finishes in a row on three different styles of race tracks. I’m proud of that. We’ll keep moving forward and figuring out what we need to gain speed in those places, but we were really solid and some days that’s all you can ask for.
WERE YOU SURPRISED THAT THE RACE WAS CAREFUL? “It is and it is not. I feel like some things about this car definitely make it harder to pass and harder to make mistakes. I feel like there were a lot of cars that were really close and the strategy was important and the tire drop was important. You get separation but you still have comers and onlookers, that’s what it’s all about. Unless someone is stuck in the gravel pit, I guess these cars are so high that you probably won’t get stuck like you would before. It was definitely a physical day and it was always great to come here.
MICHAEL MCDOWELL, No. 34 Love’s Travel Stops Ford Mustang – Finished 8th
“It was a solid effort but not what we were hoping for. We seemed to lose the rear tires a bit too much as the race went on and as we tried to dial in the rear grip we just lost a bit of cornering and then it kind of got worse, we didn’t quite have the speed we needed to get into the top five and challenge ourselves and we fell back a bit. It was a good day and we executed well. It’s nice to be disappointed with an 8th place finish, but our expectations have increased and we want to fight to win. We just needed a little more. probably need to be a bit more aggressive in practice trying things out but with this limited practice I’m so scared we’ll be taken out we just have a bit more to gain and I think we’ll be in the right direction for the Glen and we were quick on the ovals too. may be a good month for us ahead. We’re going to take a top 10 and build on it but ultimately it’s not what we were hoping for.
RYAN BLANEY, #12 Menards Ford Mustang – finished 11th
“I think we didn’t start very well. I thought it would be a long day and we continued to firm up our car and got better and better. I was quite happy with our speed at the end of the race. It was nice to win a stage and come back and finish the way we did, it was something we were proud of.
CHASE BRISCOE, #14 HighPoint.com Ford Mustang – finished 14th
“Our HighPoint.com Mustang was good in the first leg. We really needed more playoff points and those extra stage points at the end of the regular season, so staying away for the stage win helped with that. But once we fought back in traffic, things really changed. It was super hard to pass and we started to struggle. It was harder than I thought to get over that, but I’m proud of the guys who persevered and tried to make the most of it. I think we have a very good setup for the next road courses.
