David Lindsay-Abaire and Jeanine Tesori’s Kimberly Akimbo Begins Off-Broadway November 6 Previews

The world premiere of David Lindsay-Abaire and Jeanine Tesori Kimberly Akimbo premieres November 6 at the Linda Gross Theater of the Atlantic Theater Company. Based on the eponymous play by Lindsay-Abaire, the musical stars Tony winner Victoria Clark (Light in the Piazza) in the title role, with an opening night slated for December 8.

The cast also includes Hand to god Contestant Tony Steven Boyer as Buddy and Crazy in Love Breakout star Bonnie Milligan as Debra. To complete the set, Justin Cooley as Seth, Olivia Elease Hardy as Delia, Fernell Hogan II as Martin, Michael Iskander as Aaron, Alli Mauzey (Hello Dolly!) as Pattie, and Nina White as Teresa.

Kimberly Akimbo features a book and lyrics by Pulitzer Prize winner Lindsay-Abaire, music by winner Tony Tesori, choreography by Danny Mefford and staging by Jessica Stone.

The musical follows Kim, a bright and funny Jersey teenager, who looks like a 72-year-old woman. And yet, his aging disease is perhaps the least of his problems. Forced to manipulate family secrets, borderline personalities, and possible felony charges, Kim is determined to find happiness in a world where even time is not on her side.

The creative team includes set designer David Zinn, costume designer Sarah Laux, lighting designer Lap Chi Chu, sound designer Kai Harada, projection designer Lucy Mackinnon, music director Chris Fenwick, music entrepreneur Antoine Silverman , hairstylist and makeup artist Jared Janas, and orchestrator John Clancy with additional orchestrations by Macy Schmidt. The casting is provided by Craig Burns at the Telsey Office and Arabella Powell is the production manager.
