Two years after the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world, everyone is experiencing some semblance of normalcy with governments lifting restrictions. The cinemas that have been closed the longest are back in business and people are returning in droves to see movies on the big screen.
The last two Fridays of April will be busy at the Box Office with seven scheduled releases featuring KGF Chapter 2 add to the madness. Audiences can choose from a range of action, thrillers, romance, crime comedies and sports dramas, mostly in two languages: Hindi and English. We’ve compiled a list of upcoming movies that you should look forward to.
Movies released in April
Jersey – April 22
Shahid Kapoor, Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapoor star in the film. Arjun, played by Kapoor is a skillful but unsuccessful cricketer. He decides to return to the sport in his late thirties to represent India and fulfill his son’s wish for a jersey as a gift. It’s a sports drama film slated for theatrical release.
Operation Romeo – April 22
The plot includes a scene where a man and a woman in a car are about to kiss, and the door is violently slammed. Sub-Inspector Jadhav believes the pair are a threat to the moral core of society. Sidhant Gupta, Sharad Kelkar, Kishore Kadam and Bhoomika Chawla play key roles in Operation Romeo. Another well-known performer who was enlisted for Operation Romeo is Vedika Pinto. It’s a romantic thriller slated for theatrical release.
The Villains – April 22
Mr. Wolf, Mr. Snake, Mr. Piranha, Mr. Shark and Ms. Tarantula are finally apprehended after a lifetime of legendary heists. The outlaw animals must pull off their toughest con yet: become model citizens, in order to avoid jail time. Professor Marmalade, the dodgy gang’s mentor, sets out to trick the world into thinking he’s getting good. Sam Rockwell, Marc Maron, Anthony Ramos, Craig Robinson, Richard Ayoade, Zazie Beetz, Lilly Singh and Alex Borstein provide the voices for the film.

This is a computer-animated crime comedy that will hit theaters. The Bad Guys premiered in Israel on March 16, 2022 and had its worldwide debut at the Theater of the Ace Hotel on April 12, 2022. It is set to be released in the United States on April 22 and in India on May 20.
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent – April 22
Dissatisfied and on the verge of bankruptcy, Nick Cage accepts a million dollar invitation to attend a wealthy fan’s birthday party. When a CIA officer hires Cage for an unconventional operation, things take a completely unexpected turn. He soon finds himself channeling his most renowned and beloved personalities to save himself and his loved ones after taking on the role of a lifetime. Nicolas Cage stars as a fictional version of himself, with Pedro Pascal, Sharon Horgan, Ike Barinholtz, Alessandra Mastronardi, Jacob Scipio, Neil Patrick Harris and Tiffany Haddish rounding out the cast.
Memory – April 29
An accomplished assassin, Alex(Liam Neeson), becomes a target when he refuses to complete an assignment for a violent criminal organization. Agents from the FBI and Mexican intelligence are sent to examine the body trace, bringing them closer to Alex. Alex has the ability to stay one step ahead of the crime syndicate and the FBI, with one exception: he suffers from acute memory loss, which hampers his every action. Ultimately, Alex must evaluate his every move and figure out who he can trust. Liam Neeson, Guy Pearce, Monica Bellucci, Harold Torres, Taj Atwal and Ray Fearon star in the film. It’s a action thriller slated for theatrical release.
Heropanti 2 – April 29
The film shows the government sending a vigilante on a mission to assassinate the hostile forces. However, things go awry when he is mistaken for the commander of the troops. Tiger Shroff, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Tara Sutaria feature in the film. It’s a romantic Action movie scheduled for theatrical release.
Runway 34 – April 29
The film is based on the true story of Jet Airways Doha Kochi Flight 9W 555, a Boeing 737-800 that narrowly escaped disaster on August 18, 2015, when it attempted to land at the airport. Cochin International at 5:45 a.m. due to bad weather and poor visibility. Ajay Devgn, Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, Rakul Preet Singh, Angira Dhar and Aakanksha Singh are among the cast. It’s a thriller scheduled for theatrical release.
