Joe Solo http://joesolo.co.uk Some of you may know me from the 10 years I spent with Lithium Joe: for those who don't, there should be some tunes streaming through. Enjoy. Please take these songs and pass them on. File sharing is spreading music, not killing it. My first loves these days are country and folk, but I've spent so long singing punk that the attitude kinda sticks. I love stories too. I'm in awe of the likes of Shane MacGowan, Tom Waits, Joni Mitchell, Joe Strummer, Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Steve Earle and Bob Dylan; writers who take the idea of a song lyric into a whole new dimension. My album "Me & Billy The Kid" features three songs set in the First World War. I became pretty much obsessed with its history during the 1980's when I heard versions of Eric Bogle songs by The Pogues and The Men They Couldn't Hang. I've read countless books on the subject, but my favourites are those compiled by Lyn Macdonald based around survivors accounts. - (Read more)

Rock Plaza Central http://rockplazacentral.com Rock Plaza Central is a Canadian indie rock band. After a pair of glowing reviews from the influential music website Pitchfork they have recently come to prominence as a major indie rock band. Their independently released disc, Are We Not Horses (2006), made many top ten lists for the year, including #8 for CMJ Editor-in-Chief Kenny Herzog, Pitchfork staff writer Stephen Deusner and Americana-UK lead writer David Cowling. Because the album did not receive an official US release until mid-2007, it made several of those year-end lists as well, including Magnet Magazine's "10 Great Hidden Treasures of 2007", calling it "2007's finest folk/rock find". - (Read more)
Scott & Michelle Dalziel http://dalziel.net/ The fresh and soulful sounds of Scott and Michelle's voices, combined with their high energy performance, memorable and meaningful songwriting, and instrumental finesse, put them in a category all their own. Acoustic Rock or Folk genres could very well hold them but not completely. They dip down into R&B, Pop, Jazz, Country, Bluegrass, and Blues showing the versatility of this duo. The reason for the title, "Schizophrenic Folk" While Scott's guitar and vocals are smooth and effortless, Michelle's vocal and percussion proves soulful and rhythmic, complimenting each other in their Yin & Yang musical approach making their harmonic weavings a natural blend. After Scott and Michelle met in 1997, they found their musical, harmonic, and songwriting chemistry to be extraordinary and magnetic. They immediately combined forces and started collaborating for the release of their 1st of 4 CD's (Waiting For The Revolution - 1998), which had positive reviews from local entertainment magazines. - (Read more)
